Four disciplines in a deliberate order, the stages each engagement passes through, and the work we send elsewhere.

01 — What we do

Four disciplines, in a deliberate order

Positioning before identity, identity before rollout, and management consulting where a brand promise implies changes the organisation has not made yet. Reversing that order is the most expensive mistake in this field.

I

Brand strategy & positioning

Who the brand is for, why the alternative loses, and what the company will stop doing to make that true. Written in language your own sales team would say out loud — a harder test than it sounds.

AudiencePropositionTrade-offs
II

Brand architecture & naming

How the brands in a portfolio relate: what carries the parent name, what stands alone, what should be retired. Naming where a new name is genuinely needed, with trade mark risk flagged early.

III

Identity & messaging

The visible layer — verbal identity, key messages, visual direction — built on the decisions above rather than in place of them. Consistent from the pitch deck to the product to the ad.

IV

Management consultancy

A brand promise usually implies changes nobody has budgeted for: pricing, service levels, who owns the customer. We work on the operating decisions that make the promise deliverable.

02 — The boundary

What we send elsewhere

Four things we are regularly asked for and decline, stated before anyone spends a call finding out.

No trade mark clearance

We flag risk and structure naming around it. Searching and clearing a mark is a legal act for a qualified trade mark attorney, and we will tell you when to engage one.

No media buying

We set the position and the message. Buying and optimising paid media is a separate discipline with a separate skill set, and we do not improvise it.

No execution-only projects

If the position is already decided and you need artwork produced, a design studio will do it better and cheaper than we would.

No workshop without a document

A day of sticky notes that produces nothing circulable is theatre. Every stage here ends in something written.

02 — Approach

How we work

A short path from evidence to something the organisation can actually run with.

Phase 01

Listen

Customers, lost deals and the sales team. We start outside the company, because that is where the buying reason lives.

Phase 02

Decide

Positioning on one page, agreed in writing. Including the exclusions, which is the part that takes the meetings.

Phase 03

Express

Identity, language and naming, each traceable to a decision rather than to a preference.

Phase 04

Hand over

Guidelines, a briefing and a governance rule. Then we are available, not necessary.

In detail

How a brand engagement actually runs

Four stages, each ending in a document you can circulate and argue with. The first stage regularly changes what the client thought the project was.

Stage 01 · Evidence

Why people actually buy

Customer and lost-deal interviews, the sales team’s real objections, and the buying reason in the customer’s own words. It is rarely the reason on the website.

Stage 02 · Decide

Positioning, written down

One page: who it is for, what it replaces, why the alternative loses, and what the company stops doing. If it does not exclude anyone, it is not a position — it is a description.

Stage 03 · Express

Identity and language

Verbal identity, key messages, naming where needed and visual direction — all traceable back to a decision in stage two rather than to a taste preference.

Stage 04 · Embed

Survive the organisation

Guidelines short enough to be read, briefing sessions for the people who use them daily, and a governance rule for who decides an exception. This is the stage most brand projects skip.

04 — FAQ

Clearly answered

Is this a design studio?

No. We do the decisions and the language, and we direct the visual work. If a project is purely execution — you already know your position and need artwork — a design studio is the cheaper and better address, and we will say so.

What does a positioning actually look like?

One page. Who it is for, what it replaces, why the alternative loses, and what the company stops doing. If it runs to forty slides, nobody in the organisation will ever apply it.

Do you guarantee results?

No, and be careful with anyone who does. What we guarantee is that every recommendation traces back to evidence we collected and to a decision you signed off on — so it can be argued with rather than merely believed.

Can you clear a name for us?

We flag trade mark risk early and structure naming work around it. Clearing a name is a legal act and needs a qualified trade mark attorney — we will tell you when to bring one in, which is usually earlier than people expect.

How long does an engagement take?

A brand engagement typically runs six to twelve weeks from first interview to handed-over guidelines, depending on how quickly we get access to customers. The interviews are the critical path, not the design.

Which markets do you serve?

We are registered in Singapore and work across Asia-Pacific, in English.

Not legal advice. Naming and brand architecture work touches trade mark law. We identify risk and structure the work to reduce it, but we do not provide legal advice and we do not clear marks. A qualified trade mark attorney should conduct searches and clearance before a name is adopted or filed.

No guaranteed outcomes. Nothing on this website is a promise of commercial results. Market response depends on execution, competition, pricing and timing, most of which sit outside a consultancy’s control.

Third-party marks. Any third-party names or marks mentioned in the course of our work remain the property of their respective owners and are used for identification only.

Let’s talk

A brand that describes itself instead of choosing?

Send us the sentence your sales team uses when a prospect asks why you and not the other one. If that sentence is hard to write down, you have found the project.
